Foundational Stance for all Katas and Basics

Original Fist Adopted by Master Shimibuku
Isshinryu is a style which evolved from and incorporates elements of older martial arts styles such as Gojo Ryu, Shorin Ryu, and other ancient styles. The two primary innovations Master Shimibuku embrased were the Seisan Stance, and the Isshinryu Verticle Fist.
The Seisan stance distributes weight evenly on both legs and creates a solid center of balance.
The Vertical fist places the thumb on top of the wrist. This configuration results in a stronger alignment in the wrist, which enables more power and impact behind each punch.
The study of Isshinryu includes History,
Basics, Kata, Bunkai, and Kumite.
