Isshinryu Karate Academy Dojo was originally started in 1991, as the Christian Karate Academy, under the leadership of Sensei Ray Raccuglia.
In 2003, Sensei Mike Scott adopted the dojo from his former teacher, Sensei Ray. Sensei Mike then changed the name to the dojo's current name, Isshinryu Karate Academy.
This dojo teaches traditional Okinawan karate. The art celebrates the Okinawan culture and history, and gives meaning and historical context for every technique employed.
Physical conditioning is an integral part of class, as well as continuous review of Isshinryu history.
Respect is paramount. Higher rank belts help teach lower rank belts.
The dojo cultivates a family atmosphere. It is a non-competitive environment where one's greatest challenge is one's own self.
Each student, works at their own pace. Belts and ranks are earned as each kareteka learns kata, basics, and kumite. There is no set time frame for individual promotion.
This dojo promotes a close-knit atmosphere among the students. Friendships among children as well as adults are the fortunate byproduct of becoming a part of Isshinryu Karate Academy.
We offer a free trial class to all new students. Come see for yourself why Isshinryu Karate Academy Karate School is the best choice for martial arts training in the area.
